In the field of metallurgical rolling equipment processing, both the
Cnc Roller Lathe and the CNC roller ring lathe are core equipment for forming the rolled pieces. Although they both belong to the category of CNC processing machines for rolling dies, they have significant differences in processing objects, structural design, and applicable scenarios, and are suitable for the production and repair of different types of rolling die components.
The CNC
Roller Lathe is mainly used for the processing of integral long-axis type rolling dies, including the die body and the two ends of the die neck structure. It is commonly used in cast steel, forged steel, and chilled cast iron rolling dies for plates, medium-thick plates, and large-section steel sections in production lines. The machine adopts a heavy-duty long bed design, with a multi-guide rail structure that has strong load-bearing capacity. It is equipped with two centers + chuck clamping method, with a large Z-axis travel, capable of withstanding large radial cutting forces, and can complete the rough machining and semi-finishing of the die body, die neck, die pattern, and end face of the rolling die. It is the main equipment in the rolling die manufacturing and old rolling die major repair workshops, and the processed workpieces are usually followed by fine grinding with a roller grinding machine.
The CNC roller ring lathe is a dedicated processing equipment for hard alloy roller rings. The processing object is hollow ring-shaped roller rings for high-line, rod materials, and three-roll rolling machines, with the material mainly being tungsten carbide hard alloy and high-speed steel. The machine mostly adopts short bed or inclined bed structures, with a high rigidity of the main shaft and excellent anti-vibration performance. It directly clamps the circular ring workpiece with a chuck without a tailstock and centering structure. The cutting allowance of this machine is small, focusing on achieving high-precision forming processing of the outer circle, inner hole, and hole pattern of the roller ring, and can achieve rolling instead of grinding, effectively reducing the grinding processing cost of hard alloy roller rings.
In actual production selection, ordinary CNC roller lathe can be compatible with a small amount of roller ring processing tasks, but its processing efficiency and stability of hard cutting are inferior to the dedicated roller ring lathe. While the CNC roller ring lathe is limited by its travel and clamping structure, it cannot process integral long-axis type rolling dies. Enterprises can reasonably select machine equipment according to the type of processed products to improve the processing capacity and product accuracy of rolling die components.
